19 Tips on How to Host a Coloring Party for Fun and Relaxation

10 Tips on How to Host an Amazing Coloring Party for Fun and Relaxation

10 Tips on How to Host an Amazing Coloring Party for Fun and Relaxation There’s hardly any thought other than hard-core gatherings where adults are concerned, so the prospect of a nice relaxing get-together with structured activities seems impossible. But the truth is that even adults deserve to host and attend parties that don’t leave them drained and disoriented for days to come. Coloring parties are like taking a mental health day of fun and relaxation. Moreover, doing it with the people you enjoy spending time with makes coloring even more enjoyable! If you haven’t heard of anyone implementing the idea of an adult coloring party or aren’t really sure where to start even if you were to go through with it, we’ve laid down the blueprint for you. You’ll find all the tips you could possibly need to host a successful and well-organized coloring party for yourself and all the adults in your life who need something new but not too demanding. Table of Contents How to Host an Amazing Coloring Party Start with a theme Make sure you have supplies Create a good ambiance  Give a crash course Encourage social interaction Give plenty of appreciation Have all kinds of refreshments Try to curb conflict and competition Introduce variety Make some fun challenges Summary Start with a theme Parties, regardless of their nature, are always more exciting when they operate by a particular theme. With coloring book parties, setting a theme can get attendees more hyped up about the gathering and also help them already know what to expect. Make sure to set a theme that resonates and is well-liked by all those that you’re planning to involve. The theme should be reflected in any décor and setup that you’re planning to have as well. The core of the theme will show in the types of coloring books that you have to offer. Whether coloring activities center around characters, stories, mandalas, or sceneries, have the coloring party look like a manifestation and mood-setter for the coloring activities you have planned. A theme for a party also means it is serious business, and themes also often call for dress-ups, which means all the more fun! The idea of adults coloring in books and in them-abiding attire nonetheless sounds hilarious, but this is what makes the idea of coloring parties so fun and unique. Make sure you have supplies Nothing kills the mood at a coloring party, quite like a lack of supplies. Since coloring activities are completely based on the availability of coloring books, colors, and related supplies, to host a good party, you need to match the quantity with the number of people you’re planning on inviting. It’s also always wise to have supplies in surplus rather than being short on them. A lack of supplies invites conflict, withdrawal, and lesser participation. Also, not having enough supplies might also speak in an ill manner of your ability to organize and conduct a gathering well. Since the party is a coloring party, to begin with, it’s important to stay true to form above all else. It’s also smart to have options in case you have attendees who like to pick among various selections. You’ll come off as a far-sighted host who really has everything planned, and people will make it a point to attend any future coloring parties that you might arrange. Create a good ambiance Think of what a coloring part is all about: fun, relaxation, and group activities. It’s important to make sure you set up the space where the gathering is to take place accordingly. The room should have plenty of space for everyone to be able to sit down and also have their coloring books or pages in proximity. It’s also important to have a dedicated space for supplies so that all attendees can make their way to them without any fuss or struggle. Other factors like making sure the room is well-lit and the air circulation is adequate can also determine how well people like the party and, subsequently, coloring. Since coloring is an activity that has immense benefits for one’s mental well-being, it’s important to orchestrate this in an environment that is enabling and productive. Chances are that if you pull your coloring party off the right way, you can encourage a lot of other adults to get into coloring too and pursue a hobby that is good for their mind and self. Give a crash course Since adult coloring isn’t all too common, be prepared to expect that some people will be hesitant and have a lot of questions. Firstly, be open to entertaining all kinds of queries to encourage people to get into the groove of coloring, but also start by providing some good coloring tips that can build their confidence. Guide them on what colors and supplies they should be using for different coloring styles and what techniques end up giving the best results. Moreover, remind them that this is not a competition but a set of activities that seeks to promote mental well-being and the many other benefits of coloring. Above all, a coloring party is a celebration of a nice and structured activity like coloring and making it even more enjoyable by including great company. Remember to include everything from tips to reminders before you kick the coloring party started so everything sets off on the right foot. Encourage social interaction What makes a coloring party better than pursuing coloring on your own are good company and the ability to interact with them. A lot of adults might be socially anxious at something so novel as a coloring party, which is why it’s important to set a good social climate and make sure to organize things in a way that people feel encouraged to talk to and consult one another. While coloring might seem more of an individualistic activity, there are many ways to convert it into a group attempt. A great way to ensure that socialization takes

10 Amazing Benefits of Coloring for Students

10 Amazing Benefits of Coloring for Students The world of colors has a very dedicated fan base of its own; it’s quite unfortunate, though, that the art of coloring has been shelved off as something that only kids can have a passion for. Unbeknownst to many, there are lots of adults who indulge in regular coloring, and hand in hand with this knowledge goes the fact that pursuing this has an unbelievable array of benefits for them. One such category of adults who can make the most of what coloring has to offer is students! The student chunk of adults has a very unique set of pressures and demands of multi-tasking on them. This naturally calls for a diversion that helps them get off some steam but in a healthy and controlled manner that works for all. If you’re on the hunt for a relaxing but unique hobby for yourself or are looking to give a good suggestion to a fellow adult in need, then the below-given pointers on the benefits of coloring will completely win you over. Table of Contents Benefits of Coloring for Students It’s technically an easier alternative to therapy Coloring promotes a state of mindfulness Coloring helps unlock creativity Coloring helps with precision and dexterity Coloring improves the attention span and helps focus better Coloring promotes time management Coloring helps cope with stress Coloring can promote social interaction Coloring can be a great way for self-expression Coloring reduces reliance on technology Quiz: Benefits of Coloring Summary It’s technically an easier alternative to therapy While the fact that mental health is acknowledged and looking after it is encouraged in today’s progressive times, the aspect of therapy and other mental wellness services being costly is a hard reality. Keeping this in mind, it’s important to find alternatives that deliver benefits without causing more tension in their wake. Coloring comes as a welcome approach here. The colors, patterns, and visual stimuli very much replicate aspects of art therapy. This makes it an even better option for students who struggle to take out the time or resources to seek help and cater to their mental wellness. Indulging in coloring is a great way to experience catharsis without tapping into the harsher aspects of one’s personality. Students who have a tough time expressing themselves, talking to others, or making sense of things when their schedules are overly booked can find comfort in resorting to adult coloring books and finding an aspect of their lives that they have total control over. Coloring promotes a state of mindfulness The one thing that students, and generally all adults, struggle with is being in the moment. It’s very hard, if not impossible, to even draw up an instant where the mind is not plagued with thoughts and worries about past and future events. Coloring is an easy way to force your mind to switch to a state of mindfulness, which is a complete consciousness and presence of what is taking place currently. This is exceptionally healthy for a student’s mental health because it helps them cope in a healthy way with intrusive and negative thoughts. Mindfulness is also deeply rooted in related concepts like gratitude and optimism, and there’s a general consensus that students are in dire need of these two capacities! There’s no better way to train your mind to leave all unnecessary thinking behind and instead cherish what you’re currently experiencing than coloring. This is just one of the many benefits of coloring for students and all adults alike. Coloring helps unlock creativity For many students, the struggle lies in tapping into their creative side to approach their academic obstacles with a fresh and innovative perspective. It doesn’t help that creativity is also demanded by instructors and then subsequently work industries too. If, as a student, one finds themselves too rigid and unimaginative, getting into coloring might just be the solution. Coloring stimulates the parts of our brain that give rise to creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. If you think about it, there’s a reason why colors, patterns, and other attractive visuals are deemed important for developing brains. This cause is rooted in helping them get imaginative while also anchoring them down with more pragmatic ways of thinking. If you’re a student, you’ll be surprised at just how the creative juices start flowing once you consistently take up coloring. Also, observing characters, objects, and sceneries as depicted in coloring books elevates your mind’s ability to think up such creative projections on its own. Coloring helps with precision and dexterity For adult students, one major concern is the ability to write eloquently while also keeping up with what instructors are saying. Making notes sounds easier than it is, especially if you’re part of a very competitive academic environment. One of the benefits of coloring is that it can help you hone the intricate skills that you need the most. Working on your coloring can help your fingers adapt to precision and also build speed. With coloring, the goal is to do things as neatly as possible and also progressive work on minimizing the time with which one gets this done. Coloring also improves the hand-eye coordination. Students will find a lot of progress with their fine motor skills and discover just how much this benefits their academic lives and performance. Coloring is a way better alternative for working on these skills than doing lines or other monotonous tasks that end up boring you into aversion. Coloring improves the attention span and helps focus better One of the major complaints that students put forth is that they struggle with retaining their attention in one place during lectures. Their focus drifts off in places, and they end up suffering from this misgiving during assessments and exams. Coloring is a very fun way of training your mind to stay in one place for longer chunks of time. Deficiencies in attention have many causes, but regardless of their root, regularly practicing coloring can keep one from switching

10 coloring mistakes to avoid in adult coloring books

10 Coloring Mistakes to Avoid in Adult Coloring Books

10 Coloring Mistakes to Avoid in Adult Coloring Books Taking up coloring as a hobby as an adult is a fun and welcome change from the monotonous and demanding tenure of everyday life. Getting to know various colors, textures, techniques, and coloring books is an interesting adventure where there’s always room for learning and so much benefit for the mind, too. However, there are certain coloring mistakes that can make your experience of coloring a little less pleasant than you might have anticipated. It’s a common human tendency to give up something in frustration when we can’t seem to get it right the first couple of times. If you’re a perfectionist too and want your coloring books to eventually look like real works of art once the figures are filled and done, there are some tips that can come in handy. We’re outlining the most common coloring mistakes to avoid in adult color books so you can get the best results as early as the first couple of times around! Table of Contents Coloring Mistakes to Avoid Not planning the color palette Overdoing things without a break Not using adequate supplies Being too aggressive Making do with just anything Rushing the process Not being experimental with color choices Not making use of dedicated techniques Not following rules Leaving pages unprotected Quiz: Mistakes To Avoid Here’s the takeaway: Not planning the color palette While a lot of forms of art are more about freestyling, coloring books are a little more on the structured side. Simply going in without giving the process much thought won’t give the best results. Not having a clear idea of what you want the output of the coloring process to be can eventually result in haphazard strokes of color that are ill-suited to the figure and for each other as well. This makes your coloring look weak, and the results come off as unsatisfactory. Perusing through the pictures in the adult coloring book that you’re planning to color in one sitting is important because it helps you plan and pick out the best color palette. This means that you won’t have to split down your color session to go look for more colors or simply make do with what you have; either option is a big coloring mistake that will impact the outcome of your coloring. Take some time to really plan the process intentionally so you end up with the best colors for the figure. Overdoing things without a break One of the most common coloring mistakes to avoid for adults is the tendency to want to do too much all at once. If you’re planning on going through an entire adult coloring book in one sitting, then you’re setting yourself up for exhaustion and failure. Finger fatigue seriously compromises your coloring ability and, in turn, adversely affects the results of your coloring. Coloring is less about being ambitious and more about being consistent and patient. Remember that adult coloring is rooted a lot in mental health and relaxation. It’s important to pursue it while keeping these things in mind. If you feel that you’re overdoing it at any point, put the supplies down and stretch your fingers for a bit. There are no hard and fast rules with coloring, and you can always come back to pick it up from where you left off. Whenever you feel that you’re over-exerting yourself or focusing more on attaining certain self-set goals than enjoying the process, it’s best to reevaluate. Not using adequate supplies While adult coloring books are the stars of the show when taking up coloring, the supplies you use are also incredibly important because they can make or break the results of your coloring. Adults coloring books can be filled with pencil colors, crayons, markers, and whatnot, but what needs to remain consistent is the quality of the supplies you pick out. Subpar supplies can ruin the look and texture of colors and also have colors fade over time. Having good quality supplies is a must, and so is ensuring that you have the right kinds of supplies at hand. Since planning out your tasks before starting coloring has already been established as a good way of countering many coloring mistakes, it’s wise to continue in that spirit and make sure you have all the supplies you need and the best ones at that. Not giving too much thought to the kind of coloring supplies you have and whether they’re adequate in quality and quantity can completely ruin the coloring experience for you and may demotivate you in continuing to pursue it. Being too aggressive While coloring can be a good and healthy way to channel your emotions and passions, it’s never a good idea to physically transmit all of that onto the page. Pressing too hard can leave indentations of the coloring on the next page, and in case your supply of choice is a marker, then the color might just end up seeping onto the next page and ruin the adult coloring book altogether. Similarly, gripping the supplies too tightly can also affect the quality of your coloring and contribute to finger fatigue. Coloring is essentially a meditative and relaxing experience, so it’s important to channel your best and calmest self when you get down to it. The goal is to do your best, so aspects of time and energy aren’t really a matter to be considered at all. Make sure your grip on your colors is gentle, and the way the tip touches the page is rightly suited. All these little aspects end up determining how your coloring turns out and how the pages in the adult coloring book end up looking. Making do with just anything Being a go-with-the-flow kind of person works just fine when taking up coloring, but the meticulousness of the task does demand some consideration beforehand. Leaving pencils unsharpened and using markers that are on the verge of drying out is a bad idea. The

The Beginner’s Guide to Color Theory for Adult Coloring Books. 10 things you need to know

The Beginner’s Guide to Color Theory for Adult Coloring Books. Trying anything new in life can be a massive step out of our comfort zones, even if it’s just taking up a new hobby, like pursuing coloring as an adult. For some people, what helps them get started better and feel more confident in something they don’t have prior experience in is getting familiar with some advanced concepts and techniques. If you’ve been feeling the same way, then we suggest familiarizing yourself with color theory and implementing it in your coloring. Color theory is essentially about discovering harmony and an optimal combination of colors so that results come off really well. Say you’re taking up coloring as a passion project or a class and don’t want the results of your coloring to look childish, or maybe you want to really stand out. In such a case, it’s safe to say that color theory is a really good way to build your ability for coloring and start off strong. We’re going to outline all the major dimensions of color theory and how you can use each when filling up your adult coloring books. Table of Contents The Beginner’s Guide to Color Theory Pick your base colors wisely Make good color combinations Remember the art of balance Don’t be afraid of contrast Remember that colors evoke emotions Make use of structured experiments Try various coloring techniques Take inspiration from around you Be patient and observant Don’t be afraid of the unexpected Quiz: Color Theory Summary Pick your base colors wisely Color theory basically teaches us that every color we put into our body of work should complement and connect to the other. This tells us that the base colors we pick out and around which the rest of our color choices will be based need to be really thought about. Putting on ourselves the pressure of knowing and picking the right colors can be exhausting. This is why color theory has a mechanism to it. Colors are split into primary, secondary, and tertiary categories based on whether they exist as a combination of other colors or solely on their own. Consulting a color wheel can help you figure out which colors are which by virtue of their placement. There are a variety of color wheels, so sticking to one that is best suited to coloring, even the Traditional Color Wheel that works well for painting, are both prudent choices. Try picking a color that goes well with the other hues you have in mind for the coloring figure you’re picking. Make good color combinations While choosing to experiment and be daring when coloring your adult coloring temporarily sounds like a brilliant idea, color theory urges us to have a more systematic approach. Color combinations mean serious business because they’ll end up determining whether the colors go well with one another or end up either washing one another out or being too opposing to look good together. The color theory brands these combinations as color schemes. Color schemes come in a large variety, from complementary and monochromatic to analogous and triadic. Each of these schemes has its own strength and work because they depict a spectrum of colors that go together to create a visually appealing look. This will take the pressure off of you to make sure that you can accurately tell which colors work with which. This will put the fun back in coloring and allow you to pursue the hobby from a better perspective. Remember the art of balance Going wild with your colors, even if they’re picked from a well-curated color scheme, is still a bad idea. There is still the matter of saturation, contrast, deeper shading, and focal points. All of these need to follow a particular balance to come out just right. According to color theory, these decisions are based on whether the color is primary, secondary, or tertiary. Primary colors are always picked for the base since these are what essentially capture the attention of the onlooker. These need the most saturation and, in this way, become the focal point of the figure. Secondary and tertiary colors follow along in terms of saturation and depth. Allowing this difference of saturation within your colors will create a progression that will help the scheme sit better and make the entire thing look visually satisfying. Respecting the dictations of the color theory in terms of saturation and the category of colors will make your coloring experience interesting and fun. You’ll feel satisfied and motivated to delve deeper into the art of coloring. Don’t be afraid of contrast Contrast is a very important part of the color theory; in fact, it can sometimes very well be the thing that brings your coloring to life and gives it some much-needed edge. When there is an appropriate difference in the selection of colors you’ve picked out, the interest of viewers will be piqued. Color theory provides a quite simple template for orchestrating the optimal kind of contrast in coloring. Firstly, either light and dark or warm and cool aspects of contrast should be picked out. Following this, the highest level of contrast should reside in the focal part of a figure and progressively lessen moving away from it. This makes contrast the element that makes your coloring attractive. It’s always important to follow the principles of the color theory when delivering the right kind of contrast. Otherwise, the mush and mash of colors can sometimes become painful and unsettling for viewers. Instead of taking risks, stick to what’s known to work with the color theory. Remember that colors evoke emotions Color theory places so much accentuation on the placement and combination of colors because it operates according to the belief that each color has something to give. Depending on whether they’re warm or cool-toned, colors can make viewers feel different kinds of feelings. So, according to that, it’s important to look at what pages you’re choosing to fill on your adult

Brilliant Coloring Hacks to Elevate your Artwork. Feature image with woman and sketch

10 Brilliant Coloring Hacks to Elevate Your Artwork

10 Brilliant Coloring Hacks to Elevate Your Artwork Coloring is an incredibly fun activity to get into as an adult. Having distanced ourselves from this great creative outlet since we grew up leaves a void for self-expression that finally feels as if it is filling up. It’s also really nice to see the progress that one is able to make with coloring over time, and this serves to encourage us even further to work harder and create more. Once you’ve hammered down the basics of coloring, it’s only natural that you want to spice things up a bit. A great way to further enhance your coloring journey as you’ve taken up adult coloring books is to try a few tips and hacks that require little effort but create stunning results. Brilliant coloring does not depend on complicated and advanced techniques that require hours upon hours. In fact, good coloring is all about knowing the right hacks and putting them together in a way that depicts a lot more effort than has been put in! We’re sharing a few of these essential coloring hacks below. Table of ContentsColoring Hacks and Tips Test the colors of all your supplies Make use of patterns Focus on backgrounds Have lots of variety Practice makes for amazing results. Mix and blend. Master shading. Make use of color theory. Use attention-grabbing material. Protect subsequent pages. Quiz: Brilliant Coloring Hacks Summary Test the colors of all your supplies A big rookie mistake that costs a lot of pages in adult coloring books is assuming that colors will turn out the same shade as their packaging. Regardless of their type, supplies like pencils, markers, and crayons often look drastically different than how we thought they’d be. Simply putting pen to page on your coloring books is not a wise way to get started on your coloring journey. Instead, always make sure to test each color out on a separate scrap of paper. This will give a clearer idea about what colors you’re really working with, whether they have any different undertones to them, and, hence, what other colors they could go well with. This is a great and simple coloring hack that can help you devise a quick strategy in terms of color selection and picking good color combinations. Basing out coloring choices on whims doesn’t often give the best results. Also, panning out the color schemes that we have at our disposal can help you navigate according to the color theory, which is a pretty brilliant coloring hack in itself! Make use of patterns One of the reasons coloring can get monotonous is that people assume it is solely about filling the pages as straightforwardly as possible. But as an adult, there are no strict rules or regulations, and really, you can also move beyond the lines. A fun hack to make your coloring look hypnotic and attractive is to create patterns within figures and replicate them on various parts. This creates somewhat of an optical illusion and makes your coloring look a lot more advanced than it actually is. From stripes to polka dots and even zigzags, your coloring book pages will end up looking like bursts of creativity. Where art is concerned, an out-of-the-box approach is really appreciated. This is a brilliant coloring hack because it gives the impression that you’ve made use of some complicated methods to render your coloring, while the trick is really all about experimenting a bit with creativity and then duplicating it again and again! Focus on backgrounds While the background of your adult coloring book figures might just seem unimportant, it can play quite a role in helping the main work pop. Backgrounds can be creative or made using colors that specifically complement the colors you’ve used in the central pieces. If both the background and the outlined figures are based on the same palette, then they might blend with each other. This could result in a page that looks nice overall, but nothing can really be told apart from another. Adult coloring books are about fun, and color renditions on them should be creative and a reflection of that. To really elevate the artwork in your coloring books, devising ways to make the central figures on the page stand out by working on the background is a brilliant hack. The background plays a major role in how the artwork is perceived, and even if you put in the best of your work in coloring but don’t really take the backdrop into consideration during it, the results might be either bland or mismatched. Have lots of variety When coloring, a lot of people like to aim for even and homogenous results. While this is safe, it could also be the reason why your artwork looks okay-ish at best. Artists aren’t afraid to experiment, and one of the easiest coloring hacks to bring about marvelous results is to use a variety of supplies. Don’t just stick to coloring pencils, but also grab markers, crayons, and even paints if you’re feeling extra adventurous. Your artwork will end up looking unique and catch the eye in ways you could not have imagined. Different textures and mediums can create a visual of depth and motion in your work. This is especially great for coloring books because it will really bring the figures on the pages to life. This coloring hack will also make it look like you put a lot more work and technique into your rendition than you actually have. You will see that your coloring book pages will scream at observers, and they won’t help but be drawn to them. This coloring hack is especially effective if you’ve taken up coloring in a class and want your work to really make the rounds. Practice makes for amazing results One coloring hack that there is no substitute for is practice. Nothing brings flare to artwork more than a hand that’s adapted to doing it over and over. You’ll find that over
